Om Books International in association with Radio Mirchi celebrated the success of national award winning author Anupama Chopra’s book ‘King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan’ yesterday at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai.

Present at the event, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Anupama Chopra, were Gauri Khan, Jackie Shroff, Jimmy Shergill, Aadesh Shrivastava, Anu Malik, Karan Johar, Riya Sen, Juhi Chawla, Rajkumar Hirani, Tanuja Chandra, Dia Mirza, John Abraham, Subhash Ghai and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham appeared to have swapped hairstyles at the event at which Pepsi’s new and stylish packaging innovation, ‘My Can’, was unveiled. Punita Lal, executive marketing director of Pepsi Foods in India, was also present at the event. The three of them posed with the new cans in hand.

At the same event, two new commercials for the product were also revealed to the media. The ads show a boy approaching SRK and John Abraham with a tissue. As the actors move forward, having presumed that he wants their autograph, the boy reaches past them for a can of Pepsi saying, ‘Excuse me, Uncle.’

Bipasha Basu, who endorses Clinic All Clear shampoo with beau John Abraham, has been replaced by another model in the commercial because of the diificulties in her and John’s relationship — No one really knows what’s going on with them. Hindustan Lever was very aware of the problems the couple is experiencing and decided to shoot commercials of each celeb seperately. Bipasha shot hers alone, while John had other models help him out in his. A source had this to say:

Hindustan Lever did not want to portray forced chemistry between John Abraham and Bipasha Basu on screen. However hard they may try to appear in love, their chemistry will look phony and the public knows this relationship is over. Keeping all this in mind, Hindustan Lever did not want them to shoot together. They are a very image conscious company and signed John and Bips because they were a celebrity couple. 

It has also been said that Bipasha has been talking to John on the phone more and more — this is a big change from just ignoring his calls. There might be possible reconciling in their future. We’ll have to wait and see.

John Abraham is reported to be completely torn after seeing the pictures of Bipasha and Ronaldo kissing. While on the sets of Nagesh Kukunoor’s Aashayein in Pondicherry, John kept to himself throughout the day. He didn’t talk to anyone and stayed silent. An insider on the set had this to report:

John was pretty cool and mingling with everyone on the sets till the day before evening. However, he came to know about this entire episode only after he returned to his room after pack up. When John started surfing the Net, he was shocked to see the pictures of Bipasha splashed everywhere. Obviously, Bipasha had not informed him about this whole episode. John seemed very upset and what added to his misery was that everybody knew about the incident.

Poor John. He has now lost his lovely lady. We guess karma has finally caught up to cheater John.

John Abraham becoming Prince has been the talk of the town. Okay, he isn’t becoming a real prince, but fans are pleading for him to star as the Prince of Persia in Micheal Bay’s Hollywood adaptation of the popular video game. The adaptation of this game, which is based around the medieval Persian Empire, is being turned into a movie and is being produced by Walt Disney. It is expected to be released in the middle of 2009. The whole campaig of ‘John For Prince’ was started by Venetia Sarll, a huge John Abraham fan. Sujoy Mukherjee, who is the webmaster of John Abraham’s site, had this to comment:

Venetia is one of John Abraham’s biggest fans. She had even met him when he was in the United Kingdom. She was quite excited about starting an online campaign to get John to act in the Prince of Persia movie.

This is recent light of him and Bipasha splitting and Bipasha getting close with Saif Ali Khan. We’ll have to see what is next on John’s plate and if he does get the role.

John Abraham has been changing his eating habits and lifestyle  to prepare himself physically and mentally for his role as a weak patient in Nagesh Kuknoor’s film: Aashayein. John is reported to have already lost 10 kilos. He has been going a special diet and extensive training, with a temporary gym placed sets to keep him in line and focused on training. John had this to say about the weight loss and role preparaton:

Yes, it is true that I have lost lot of weight for the film. I did it to match the brief I was given. I am currently shooting near Pondicherry and I can give you all the details only when I am back from the schedule.

Also John  shoots for the film from 7:30 in the morning to 10:30 at night. He is dedicated and really wants more than just a oscar nomination. Looks like he’s not going to eat until it happens.

We guess John Abraham’s luck is starting to run out — at least relationship wise. Bipasha Basu is not very happy with John as of right now. Rumors of his secret affair with Sheetal Menon has finally made Bipasha realize it’s time to call it quits. Bipasha has been getting a lot of advice from Saif Ali Khan about what she should do. Here’s what a source had to say:

Bipasha’s affection for Saif Ali Khan grew stronger after she heard rumors about John’s proximity to debutante actress Sheetal Menon. John has been unfaithful to her not once but many times. Now, Bipasha has had enough. Bipasha is in a daze. She knows what she has to do, but it’s not easy giving up on a relationship of five years. She can not compromise on her dignity anymore and has not been talking to him for over a week.

This isn’t the first time Bipasha has been put in this situation, but it probably is the last. There was an affair between John and Vidya  during the shooting of Salaam-e-Ishq. Things could have been really bad but Bipasha played it cool when being questioned by the media pretending that everything was just fine.The word is that Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha’s former flame Dino Morea are after Bipasha’s heart now. We’ll have to wait and see what she does. The ball is definitely in her court and the court is already full of suitors.

Even though the Chopras have ousted John Abraham from any future movies, it’s really no concern to him. John just recently got a role in the Hollywood movie Luna.He will be starring opposite of the beautiful Hollywood actress Rachel Weisz. This is a great moment for John and Indian film in general, because this is the first time an Indian actor has been casted in a Hollywood film not just to play the cliche Indian character role. His Indian ethnicity plays no part in the movie. Director of the film, Deepa Mehta, had this to say:

John, who plays an environmentalist in ‘Luna’, is not an Indian, nor an American in the film. His culture origins are not specified. Unlike in Water, in this film, he won’t be a man in a dhoti playing the basuri. This makes him bollywood’s first actor to crack the West without playing the NRI or some exotic creature. He has a full fledged role opposite Rachel.

Bravo John! It seems as though his good looks and talents have impressed many people. So, will it matter about the Chopras? We can’t wait to see how the film turns out and to hear any further news. We will definitely keep you all updated.

We previously mentiond the grude John Abraham has against Arshad Warsi, claiming him to have an inflated ego. Even though others on the set pointed fingers at John Abraham as the catalyst of the conflict and the one with the real inflated ego. John Abraham’s former modest personality has shifted since he has become successful. John was supposed to play Bobby Deol’s character in Shaad Ali’s Jhoom Barabar Jhoombut but was replaced by Aditya Chopra, who was well aware of his greedy high salary requests and arrogant attitude. A source close to Chopra had this to say:

Aditya wanted to cast John Abraham in the film and asked Shaad Ali to get in touch with him. John showed interest in the project and promised to get back to him. But did not. After waiting for three days, Aditya Chopra realized that he was acting pricey and decided to cast Bobby Deol in the same role. Bobby always wanted to work in Yashraj Films, and he did not want to let go of this opportunity.

The Chopras have decided to stay clear of John Abraham in order to sedate his wild ego and set him straight. We will have to see how success plays out for him since the Chopras are a very powerful family in the industry.

John Abraham and Arshad Warsi have gotten into a heated battle while on set for Vivek Agnihotri’s film Goal — but it seems that the conflict is due more to John Abraham than Arshad Warsi. An witness on the set had this to confess:

The scene required John to hug Arshad, but John refused outright. Instead, asked Vivek to change the scene. Vivek blatantly snapped, ‘Please keep your personal problems aside and then come to work.’ Arshad kept his cool and he did not show any disrespect for John or Bipasha.

The duo were close before filming this movie, but their relationship started to drift as John Abraham starting see Arshad as very proud and with an inflated ego. Vivek has even worked in more of John Abraham into the movie, trying to cool the situation. Arshad has kept quiet for the sake of completing the film and remaining profesional. We’ll have to see what happens betweens these two stars now, after the film is completed and released.
