The Oscar nominated masterpiece Lagaan had its dvd release party at the PVR Cinema in Mumbai last Friday night. Gracy Singh, Ashutosh Gowariker, Javed Akhtar, Satyajit Bhatkal and the entire cricket team of Lagaan were present. They all watched the screening of Chale Chalo, the National Award winning documentary based on the creators of Lagaan.

More and more Bollywood stars are becoming the faces of different product lines. Many of them are taking opportunities to endorse all sorts of products. We mentioned earlier about Shilpa’s vodka, Katrina Kaif teaming with Spice mobile, and Aamir Khan endorsing Coke and watch designer Titan. Hrithik Rosh has also hopped on the bandwagon. He is now Sony Ericsson’s brand ambassador.

Ayesha Takia has bailed on Aamir Khan and the movie ‘Ghajini’, directed by A. R. Murugadoss. Ayesha had even signed her named to the movie and even set-up dates but then cited that irreconcilable differences would prevent her from taking part in the filming of the movie. She has said that:

Yes, I was supposed to do Ghajini. But I am not going ahead with it now. All I can say is that there were some irrevocable differences. Beyond that, I can not say anything. Its pointless to talk about a project I am not doing anymore.

Who knows what consequences rejecting an Aamir Khan movie will do. Usually it is Aamir himself rejecting appearances and roles but the tables have shifted. We will have to see how things work out further along the road.

Bollywood stars get paid big money for endorsements and fairly so as their name power often brings an incredible amount of attention to a brand. The latest is Katrina Kaif who is the new brand ambassador for Spice Mobile. Here’s a couple more photos from the event:

Aamir Khan has a long running series of famous ads with Coke. In the latest, set to release very soon, Aamir plays the part of a railway attendant whose Coke bottle mysteriously goes from full to empty while he is not looking. You can watch the ad right here:
