There is a lot of controversy sorrounding Sanjay Gupta’s movie: Shootout At Lokhandwala. He is now being sued by the mother of Maya Dolas, the gangster the film portrays, because she is upset with her depiction in the film. Sanjay had this to say:

It’s a fact that the real Maya Dolas’ aai (mother) has sent us a legal notice. She has reacted adversely to Amrita’s interview, especially to that part that says she encouraged Maya to become the person that he was. My legal department is looking into her legal notice. I would like to say in my film’s defence that the lady has not seen the film.

In the interview Sanjay mentions that what Amrita Singh said in an interview had upset the mother of Maya Dolas. Amrita was informed that Maya Dolas’ mother actually influenced him in becoming a gangster and that is why she accused her. We’ll have to see how the lawsuit takes form, but many reviewers have had positive reactions to the film. Hopefully it will not affect how well the film does.
