Miss Japan, Riyo Mori,was crowned Miss Universe 2007 this past sunday night. The 20 year old Mori, who has been a lifelong ballet dancer, was the 56th winner of the title and was given her $250,000 diamond and pearl crown by last year’s winner, Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico. A large live audience was eagerly waiting to see who was crownded. The numbers show 10,000 and some 600 million television viewers worldwide. When asked what she felt when she heard her name and what she would do now after winning, Mori had this to say:

My mind went blank…I don’t want to be acting. I just want to be myself, always be natural.

Shah Rukh Khan was the brand ambassador and main guest for the liquor brand Masterstroke’s sponsored concert that took place last weekend. It was located in Mumbai at the MMRDA grounds. The Bombay Vikings and Indian Idol finalist Prajakta Shukre performed. The show started with a huge bang as Amrita Arora’s performance was a hit. It’s kind of odd to see  Shah Rukh really trying to milk his fame for money but he claimed this as his reasoning for working with Masterstroke:

It gives me great pleasure to be associated with a brand that has made a mark and stands among the best.

Many celebs were on hand to witness the launch of Komal Nahta`s The Film Street Journal at the Taj Land End. It was filled with the likes of: Shah Rukh, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, and Anil Kapoor. We still find it weird to see Katrina so far away from Salman, it seems he really liked to be tight on her leash.Well here are some pics from the launch:

Bollywood actress Isha Sharvani and Indian Cricket player Zaheer Khan have ended their two year relationship. This is the second Bollywood actress and cricket player split, the first being Kim Sharma and Yuvraj Singh. Word has it that Isha wasn’t really too devastated with the split and has moved on fast. Also it is being said that her new love interest is Karan Khanna. They met while shooting for Ajay Devgan’s U Me Aur Hum and hit it off well, here’s what an inside source had to say:

Isha and Karan were quite flirtatious with each other. Their chemistry was unmistakable. Often, they were seen holding hands on the deck in the evenings and slipped away from the sets when they were not required. They were doing this openly. Its obvious Zaheer is not part of her life any more.

The Cheeni Kum premiere took place Thursday at Cinemax in Mumbai and it was a intimate and laid back premiere. Director Balki acted as host and escorted everyone from the entrance and then to the auditorium. Everyone in the film was on hand with the exception of Paresh Rawal. Amitabh and Abhishek were also present but no photographers took any pictures of them, because of the treatment given during the Abhi-Ash wedding stretch. Here are the pictures from the premiere:

The premiere of Shootout at Lokhandwala took place Thursday night in Mumbai. Everyone who worked on the movie was on site and many of their celebrity friends as well. The movie which was shrouded in controversy over Sanjay Gupta being sued will surely hit, especially with a star studded premiere such as this. Here’s everyone who was on hand:

Celina Jaitley has been signed by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) as their new ambassador and spokesperson promoting elephant cruelty awareness. Celina had this to say:

We have worshipped elephants for thousands of years and we even keep the same God in captivity. My mission as brand ambassador is to fight for the freedom of this magnificent mammal.

Even though the Chopras have ousted John Abraham from any future movies, it’s really no concern to him. John just recently got a role in the Hollywood movie Luna.He will be starring opposite of the beautiful Hollywood actress Rachel Weisz. This is a great moment for John and Indian film in general, because this is the first time an Indian actor has been casted in a Hollywood film not just to play the cliche Indian character role. His Indian ethnicity plays no part in the movie. Director of the film, Deepa Mehta, had this to say:

John, who plays an environmentalist in ‘Luna’, is not an Indian, nor an American in the film. His culture origins are not specified. Unlike in Water, in this film, he won’t be a man in a dhoti playing the basuri. This makes him bollywood’s first actor to crack the West without playing the NRI or some exotic creature. He has a full fledged role opposite Rachel.

Bravo John! It seems as though his good looks and talents have impressed many people. So, will it matter about the Chopras? We can’t wait to see how the film turns out and to hear any further news. We will definitely keep you all updated.

Aaditya Datt has decided to terminate Nisha Kothari from any involvement in his upcoming film Good Luck. A few reasons have been mentioned: her all around arrogant attitude ,requesting a higher payment, and for filming dates to be changed just for especially. Apparently, the biggest reason for Datt’s release is her refusal to do a kissing scene in the film. An insider had this to say:

Nisha had her own reasons for not doing a kissing scene, which is extremely important in the film. She said that she had never kissed on screen and would not do it for any filmmaker, whosoever. Aaditya is extremely professional and hates tantrums. Nisha was acting too pricey and that’s when he decided to replace her. He has found a fresh face for the female lead.

Kissing on film is a common practice and she is a fool for making such a big deal about it. It would be a little bit more understandable if it was a intimate sex scene, but it was only a kiss. As as actress she should realize this would be ahead of her and required in her career. Let’s see how many new movie offers she gets in light of this.
